Meet our Team

Darrell grew up in Western Oklahoma, and after graduating high school, served four years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  He met his wife to be, Virginia, while on-leave in Honolulu, HI. Once he was discharged, the two were married and had two sons, Darren and Ryan. Darrell went on to obtain his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Oklahoma State University and worked two years for the Treasurer's office in the Oklahoma State Capital building. 

In 1980, Darrell and Virginia moved back to western Oklahoma and bought an office supply store and a printing press, fulfilling a lifelong dream to manage their own business. Eventually, they opened another office supply store, expanding to a neighboring town as well as adding an Apple Computer dealership, one of the first in Oklahoma.  

In 1989, with the local economy struggling, Darrell and Virginia had to sell their businesses and decided to move to Phoenix, AZ to start over. After working various jobs throughout the Valley, Darrell eventually had his next big idea, and in 1995, founded Interstate Mortgage. Darrell, Virginia and their youngest son, Ryan at age 20 who was just starting his own family, built Interstate Mortgage from the ground up, surviving and then eventually thriving through shifting interest rates, varying economies, and fluctuating Real Estate markets.   

In March of 2022, Darrell passed away.  Ryan, his wife Jaime, and now Darren continue Darrell's dream of not just owning a family business but serving other families as well.
